An Infographic About Me (and You)Hovey
Social media stories are often told in the form of an “infograph”. Infographs are efficient means of expressing a lot of information about a particular topic, through the use of visuals and graphs. You’ve probably seen a few of them recently about Pinterest. And if you follow me on Pinterest or Facebook you’ll have noticed that I like to share them as well.
While I enjoy a good infograph, I’ve not yet had the opportunity to create one–until now. Intel recently launched “What About Me” (link no longer works) an infographic generator that looks into your Facebook, Twitter and YouTube history to produce a visual representation of who you are on social media.
It’s very simple to try this out. Just link up your accounts and watch it whir away. They even give you a neat “art project” to play with while you’re waiting for the magic to happen behind the scenes. It took me all of 2 minutes from finding the web page to finished product.
I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the results. Overall, I think this is a good picture of who I am.
- I spend a disproportionate amount of time on social networks in the evening.
- The posts at the top are representative of who I am and what I talk about.
- The people at the bottom are some of the people I talk to most frequently on Facebook (recently at least).
All in all, a neat little bit of fun. Since this only uses your personal Facebook Timeline, I’m not really seeing the value for business. It would be interesting to see the results based on my business Timeline, but that’s not currently an option.
Try it out. I’d love to see All About You, too!
