How Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn use Algorithms

Our topic is Amazing Algorithms! Do you truly understand how Facebook, Twitter and even LinkedIn use algorithms to determine what shows up in your newsfeed? If you thought you did, look out; changes are coming to Facebook’s algorithm. Twitter’s getting one this week. We talk about them all, including what to do and what not to do to get your content seen!

We discussed how Facebook is moving from a reactive, quantitative algorithm to a more proactive, qualitative model that will attempt to predict what type of posts you are most likely to engage with. Then we lamented how Twitter seems to be one step behind Facebook as it is now just adopting the  reactive algorithm model Facebook is starting to move away from. As a small business this is going to put a lot more pressure on your own unique content, but Facebook is also giving us some tools to help us reach the right people.
