How to Promote Your Blog
I just spent the better part of an afternoon researching and writing a blog post. I don’t feel like spending all the time that’s required to properly promote the post to get the most traction from it. (Hey…it happens sometimes… #Flawsome and all.) So here is my list of the bare minimum of things you have to do to promote your blog when you’re in a hurry.
Write for SEO
Always write your blogs with SEO in mind. Do it right the first time and you won’t need to update it later. TIME SAVER. Granted, it will take you some time to learn how to properly SEO your blogs and use the SEO tools available to you, but once you’ve learned, it comes naturally. If you’ve written your blog with your ideal audience in mind and included the keywords in all the right places, Google is more likely to bring you traffic.
Add Stock Photos to Your Posts
If you’re really pressed for time, have a graphic designer create some Canva templates for you to use with your blog posts. You will notice, that if you follow me for long enough, I recycle the same post templates over and over. We’re just starting a new round of peacock feathered graphics now. Not only does this make it simple to make the proper graphics for the blog and my social media, but it also keeps the brand consistent. If you can’t work with a designer, or design something in Canva, then stock photos can be a good option. Just be sure you are downloading the stock photos from a reputable website and you have the proper license and attribution. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER download something from a Google search to use in your blog!
Schedule Posts
There are myriad social media schedulers available to you and they all have great features. Pick one and schedule those graphics and teasers to go out a few times automatically so you don’t have to remember to do it later. Even better if this is evergreen content that can be recycled and reposted many times.
Send it to your Email List
You do have an email list, right? If you don’t have a list yet, you need to start it today. I’ve talked many times about what can happen if you suddenly get locked out of your social media accounts. If that happened today, how would you update your audience? How would you sell to them? Email marketing, done right, is still one of the most effective methods of communicating with your audience. If you’re a small business looking to get started with an email list, I highly recommend following my friend over at Daley Progress for tips, ideas, inspiration, and email marketing resources.
Promote Your Post
If you don’t have time to schedule your posts yourself, it only takes a few minutes to write a teaser for the post, grab the link and post it. At least you will have done that once. I recommend recycling your content, especially if it’s evergreen content, but that setup does take a bit more time. If you want to quickly reach new audiences, consider paying to promote your post through a content discovery platform like Quuu Promote.
How to Quickly Promote Your Blog
The bare minimum, if you want your blog posts to get any traction at all:
- Write with SEO in mind in the first place;
- Systematize the photos/graphics;
- Use your email list;
- Post the link on every social media profile at least once!

Love this post! Even with the bare minimum, it’s still a fair bit of work but well worth the effort.
